Bottle Drive!!

Bright and early on the morning of January 8th, the Belize team plus some helpers worked for hours to collect and sort bottles as a fundraiser for our trip to Belize.  The kids (and adults!) worked very hard going door-to-door in the snow, rousing people from their Saturday morning lazing, to ask for bottles.  We were organized into teams, who each had different neighbourhoods to cover.  One team stayed at the bottle depot to start sorting all the bottles, which turned out to be a long, difficult and dirty job!  We were told that we would get an extra 10% of everything we raised if we sorted our own bottles, so we did.  Towards the end it took the whole team to finish this huge job!  Thanks to all who participated for their hard work.  We made over $450 and still have some bottles coming in!
Many thanks to those who supported this fundraiser by bringing in bottles.  We are that much closer to getting to Belize!!
Stay tuned for photos from the Chili Cook-Off!

6 Weeks Prior to Mission

Only 6 weeks before the team takes off on their big trip!  We are all very excited and getting all the preparations done, dealing with passports, plane tickets and getting our programs ready.
Our contacts in Belize are excited to receive us and making plans for our arrival.  We will be staying at In His Will mission, where we will help with their community activities as well as doing a VBS program.  Check out their website to see where we will be staying (Facilities) and the programs they offer to the community (What do we do?) We will also be heading to St. Hilda's school, where the Cathedral Puppeteers served the last time they were in Belize.  At St. Hilda's we will do crafts, songs and games with the kids, as well as painting some of their buildings.  We are all very much looking forward to this cross-cultural experience where we hope to grow as a team as well as in our relationship with God.  Many of the kids have expressed that they want to see how people live in other countries.  This will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them.
Our fundraising is coming along well, but we are not quite all paid for yet but trusting God to help us get there.  The kids are working really hard, going door-to-door, working at jobs and helping with our fundraising efforts.  The bottle drive brought in over 450$!!
This Sunday stay after church for a delicious lunch of soups, chowders and hot dogs!!  You will have the chance to make a donation towards the team's trip to Belize.  Come and have lunch with us!
Thank you so much for your prayers and support.  Please keep it up!  There is lots to do in the coming weeks.  Stay tuned for more updates!
